Both Sides

'Both Sides' by Jane Coyle, directed by Rhiann Jeffrey

'Both Sides' comprises two interlocking monologues, 'Me Here', 'Me & Before Before'. They are set in Paris and Nice respectively and are inspired by the works of Samuel Beckett.

In 'Me Here', Me - a young woman sits alone in a Paris café watching the life of the street unfold. Every passer-by seems to have a troubling story and, with the arrival of a familiar figure at an adjoining table, she fears her own is about to be revealed.

Performed by the Paris-based Belfast actress, Hannah Coyle.

'Before Before' unfolds in a bar in the Mediterranean city of Nice. A once-glamorous middle-aged woman from Belfast surveys the people around her, while looking back on a turbulent life and a personal loss too painful to bear.

Performed by the distinguished Belfast actress, Libby Smyth.

"An evening spent in Paris and Nice ... insightful writing, sensitive performances." Irish News
